Model-Based Yield Gap Assessment in Nepal’s Diverse Agricultural Landscape

چکیده

Rice, wheat, maize, millet, and barley are the five major staple cereal crops in Nepal. However, their yields low, imports needed to meet domestic demand. In this study, we quantify gap between current potentially attainable Nepal, estimate how much additional fertilizer irrigation required close gap, assess if self-sufficiency can thus be achieved. For this, first test ability of crop model EPIC reproduce reported 1999–2014 accurately. On average, simulated at national level were same range, but district level, error was large, as resolutions available climate soil input data not high enough depict heterogenic conditions Nepal adequately. main show that average yield gaps amount 3.0 t/ha (wheat), 2.7 (rice), 2.9 (maize), 0.4 (barley), 0.5 (millet). With fertilization, increased by 0.1/2.3 0.4/1.3 1.6/1.9 0.1/0.3 0.1/0.4 (millet), respectively. The results providing reliable affordable access should a priority for closing

Parametric model based assessment of genotype×environment interactions for grain yield in durum wheat under irrigation

The objectives of this study were to assess the genotype (G) by environment (E) interaction of grain yield of durum wheat(Triticum durum Desf.) based on parametric models, additive main effects and multiplicative interaction (AMMI) and joint linear regression models; and compare the relative efficiency of the two models in explaining the GE effects. Twenty-three genotypes were evaluated across ...

An Agent-Based Assessment of Land Use and Ecosystem Changes in Traditional Agricultural Landscape of Portugal

This paper presents an assessment of land use changes and their impacts on the ecosystem in the Montado, a traditional agricultural landscape of Portugal in response to global environmental change. The assessment uses an agentbased model (ABM) of the adaptive decisions of farmers to simulate the influence on future land use patterns of socio-economic attributes such as social relationships and ...

Agricultural Landscape Cultivation in Austria

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate economic benefits associated with agricultural landscape-cultivating services provided as an input on behalf of the tourism sector in Austria. Applying the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) 4600 tourists spending vacations in Austria were asked about their willingness to pay for these services in the summer of 1991. The mean and median was 9.20 ATS and 3...

Trophic cascades in agricultural landscapes: indirect effects of landscape composition on crop yield.

The strength and prevalence of trophic cascades, defined as positive, indirect effects of natural enemies (predatory and parasitic arthropods) on plants, is highly variable in agroecosystems. This variation may in part be due to the spatial or landscape context in which hese trophic cascades occur. In 2011 and 2012, we conducted a natural enemy exclusion experiment in soybean fields along a gra...

Agricultural landscape and spatial distribution of Toxoplasma gondii in rural environment: an agent-based model

BACKGROUND Predicting the spatial distribution of pathogens with an environmental stage is challenging because of the difficulty to detect them in environmental samples. Among these pathogens, the parasite Toxoplasma gondii is the causative agent of the zoonosis toxoplasmosis, which is responsible for public health issues. Oocysts of T. gondii are excreted by infected cats in the environment, w...
